Morteza Bank pointed to the implementation of an integrated customs system in Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), customs offices and free zones and added, “from now on, goods will be monitored at the ports of origin and destination in cooperation with the Free Zone Organization and Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).”
According to an agreement inked between Secretariat of Supreme Council of Free Zones and IRICA, goods entry and exit will be registered in this comprehensive system, he maintained.
According him, the Rouhani's administration has established very sound cooperation with all responsible organizations. Among the key objectives of the administation he named supporting private sector investment, promoting re-export of commodity, attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), expanding activity of knowledge-based companies and backing manufacturing of home-made products as well as setting up single-window trade, etc.
“The concept of free zone means an activity based on economic competition. Once an activity is properly carried out based on economic competition, it will set a good pattern for other sectors," he said.
He went on to add, “currently, Iran is home to seven free trade and industrial zones including Kish, Qeshm, Chabahar, Aras, Anzali, Arvand and Maku as well as 64 special economic zones. In this regard, a comprehensive bill has been submitted by the government to the Iranian Parliament for setting up seven other free trade and industrial zones as well as 12 new special economic zones.”
